The Highly Talented and Underrated Alex Omen
Alex Omen is “an emerging alternative R&B and Hip-Hop artist,” hailing from Columbus, OH. He has the voice of an angel and intends to use his music to express his deepest, darkest emotions. By doing so, he also wants to bring those feelings out of his listeners. So, not only is he creating a therapeutic experience for himself but also for his loyal fans. Even if a person doesn’t retain that takeaway from Omen’s music, they can, at the very least, appreciate his raw talent for music creation.
His most famous song is “akoma.” This song is a prime example of what Omen can do by blending genres. Hip-hop may have evolved from R&B, but the two genres have evolved. Modern Hip-hop and R&B can be seen as separate things, but Omen puts the two in a blender and produces beautiful tracks like “akoma.” With over 17,500 plays on Spotify, Omen takes the typical subject matter of Hip-hop songs, sprinkles in heartfelt emotions of his struggles, and uses his voice to put a smile on his listeners’ faces. Even though it’s Omen’s best-performing song, it is still revered as underrated. This song, and Omen in general, should be receiving more attention.
If you scroll through Omen’s Instagram, you’ll see he has a futuristic aesthetic. From blurry images to high-res ones to an incredible style, it makes Omen’s visual presence enticing, It’s one thing to do the part, but it’s another part to look it. On top of being a great vocal artist, Omen is also a great dresser. My favorite fit, in particular, is the earliest post on his page (see below). The simplicity in the black and white color pairing and the smoothness of the leather jacket, contrasting with the clunkiness of the camera, make this outfit great. Furthermore, the following two slides of the post are an edit I have never seen before.
