SNJÜ’s “Glide & Swerve” is a Breath Of Fresh Air in the R&B scene

Today’s R&B scape is heavily saturated with sappy love songs and bedroom bangers. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m an R&B fan and am all for the aforementioned “typical” R&B. However, SNJÜ’s “Glide & Swerve” stuck out to me because he’s not afraid to be left of center in a way that’s not trendy or ‘edgy’.

“Glide & Swerve” is a breezy track that is a loose ode to weed. Backed with spacey production and buttery vocals, the bones of this song are R&B to the core. However, his special sauce on this record comes in its lightheartedness. 

With lyrics that mention passing a joint to the devil inside of you and an alter-ego in the song’s visual that is all too goofy (in the best way of course), “Glide & Swerve” is playful without degrading or appropriating the genre. SNJÜ’s authentic quirkiness makes this record a hidden gem that deserves your attention. Check it out below!
