Simmie6’s “AIRPLANE MODE” Shows His Versatility

Simmie6 recently released his jam-packed full of love EP, “AIRPLANE MODE.” This EP surprised many long-time listeners of Simmie6 because of his polar opposite genre switch. For example, songs like “Green Light” or “Xx Pill” are two singles from his early work in 2019 that sound like well-executed trap songs. But then, someone could listen to this new EP, and it would seem that there are two completely different people. “AIRPLANE MODE” is nowhere near the aggressiveness, crime-filled lyrics, and flexing of trap and nearer to the tenderness, slowness, and love-filled lyrics of r&b.

Now, the transitioning between trap and r&b is tough on paper, but Simmie6 did so seamlessly. He is creating a vast arsenal of genres at his disposal and expanding on his versatility. Trap music is faster than r&b in terms of pacing, but on a song like “BITTER,” Simmie6 showcases his knowledge of the slower genre. He shows listeners that he has a vocabulary for r&b songs, can flow at any pace, is willing to use his voice in a more intimate tone, & so much more.

The capability of this genre switch alone should make people inclined to Simmie6, but the astounding quality of music should make them fans forever. Check out “AIRPLANE MODE” by Simmie6 below!
